Privacy Policy
Word Unscrambler is a word game solver. This page explains what happens to the letters and screenshots you enter, what our host records, and how advertising works on this site.
What stays on your device
The solver runs entirely in your browser. The word list is downloaded to your device and searched there, so the letters you type are never transmitted to us and we have no way to see them.
Screenshots are handled the same way. When you upload or paste an image, it is read and processed by code running in your browser. The image is never uploaded to our servers, and we do not store, transmit, or retain it. Closing the page discards it.
What our host records
This site is served as static files by our hosting provider. Like nearly all web hosts, it automatically logs standard technical information with each request — your IP address, browser type and version, the page requested, and the time of the request. These logs are used to serve the site, diagnose faults, and detect abuse. We do not use them to build profiles of individual visitors.
We do not operate accounts, logins, newsletters, or contact forms.
Third-party services
Optical character recognition. The screenshot reader uses an open-source library that your browser downloads from a public code delivery network (jsDelivr) the first time you use the feature, along with its language data. Your browser contacts that network directly, so the network receives your IP address and browser details as part of that request. Your image is not sent to it — only the library comes back. If you never upload a screenshot, these requests never happen.
Analytics. This site uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use it — which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors are located, and which browsers and devices are in use. It sets cookies and collects your IP address, which Google uses to approximate your location; the full address is not made available to us, and we see only aggregated reports rather than information identifying you. The letters you enter and the screenshots you upload are not part of this and are never sent to Google. You can prevent Analytics entirely with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Vercel Web Analytics. Our host also provides a basic traffic count — which pages are visited, and the referrer, country, browser and device type. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, and it does not follow you across other websites. Because it identifies no one, it runs without asking for consent.
Advertising. This site displays ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads, and may serve personalized ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can review how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and opt out of personalized advertising in your Google Ad Settings. Third-party vendors may also be opted out at aboutads.info/choices.
Cookies
Cookies on this site are set by the analytics and advertising services described above; we set none of our own for any other purpose. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the solver works normally without them.
When you first arrive, analytics and advertising cookies are switched off and you are asked to choose. Nothing is set unless you accept. Your choice is remembered on your own device and is never sent to us; you can change it at any time using the Cookie settings link at the bottom of any page.
Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland
Where required, you will be asked for consent before personalized advertising cookies are set, and you may change or withdraw that choice at any time. You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data held about you, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Because we operate no accounts and receive neither your letters nor your screenshots, the data we hold is limited to the server logs described above.
Visitors in California
We do not sell personal information for money. Sharing data with advertising partners for personalized advertising may qualify as a “sale” or “sharing” under California law; the opt-out links above are the means to decline it.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
This policy may be updated as the site changes. The date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
